Country stars Clint Black and Josh Turner headline this year's Freedom Over Texas festivities, dubbed "the Mayor's Official July 4th Celebration."

The daylong event takes place in Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston parks on Buffalo Bayou. It will include multiple stages and, of course, fireworks.

Black was raised in Katy and has scored several No. 1 hits, including "A Better Man," "Killin' Time" and "Nothin' but the Taillights." His last studio album, "Drinkin' Songs & Other Logic," was released in 2005.

Turner's deep-as-a-well voice made him a star via hits "Long Black Train, "Your Man" and "All Over Me."

There also will be a kids zone and beer garden. KTRK Channel 13 will broadcast the concert and fireworks from 7-10 p.m.

The 2014 Freedom Over Texas drew almost 50,000 people despite rain. It featured country singer Jennifer Nettles and stars from the TV show "Nashville."

This year's event will compete for crowds with country superstar Garth Brooks, who will be finishing up an eight-show run with two July 4 concerts at Toyota Center.

Tickets: $5 before June 1, $8 June 1-July 3, $10 at the gate. Children ages 5 and younger admitted free. Purchase tickets at freedomovertexas.org.
